- New Star Rogue. Robin Gawlik has released a new version (v0.21a) of his sci-fi roguelike, Star Rogue. This version has a large number of changes, a little too large to include so here is a link to the readme. - Balrog 170. BALROG has reached the heady heights of 170 games listed, 22 of which have detailed pages. Erik I. Bolsø has also added screenshots from VMS Moria 4.8 and Mac BOSS, info about an obscure online pre-roguelike called "Black Dragon" and a bunch of minor updates. |

- Article #36. Another article has been sent in for the Development section, this time by Esa Ilari Vuokko. The article submitted is called 'How To Write A Roguelike Game/Engine' and covers methods for game design and code snippets. You can either go directly to the doc with the title link or find it in the dev section with all the other articles to help you on the road to roguelike authorship. :) |

- Free C++. Well, the compiler, specifically. Those nice people at Borland have decided to give away their C++ Compiler (5.5) for free. That's for nothing, nada, zilch, squat, zippo, gratis, FREE! ...which is nice. So if your only excuse for not creating a stunning new roguelike was that you didn't want to splash out on the bits you need, worry no more. More to the point, download it and get cracking! ;) See the press release here. |

- New GSNband. Gwidon Naskrent has managed to squeeze a few seconds from his time on the ZAngband DevTeam to create a new version (2.1) of
GSNband. This may be the last version for a while so enjoy. Here are the changes...

- Another Article. This one is a little techy (too techy for someone like me to even think about comprehending) and is sent in by Jurriaan Kalkman, author of Angband/64. As with the others, you'll find it in the ever expanding Development section. It's called (deep breath) Stacktraces in gcc-compiled programs in Win32 and Linux-executables. *phew* See. Even the title sounds techy. Many thanks to Jurriaan for sending the article in. |

- MM Ending. Chris Lyon has put an end to his project 'Mithril Machines'. After developing the background for the game, he's decided that he'd much rather concentrate on his writing. Good luck to him with his future endeavours. - Amiga OAngband. Bablos has ported the recent OAngband release (v0.4.1) for the Amiga. You'll find the file you're after here... |

- More Articles. Two new articles for the Development section courtesy of James Burton. The first one is called 'Info Files' and covers those ever-so-useful text files you find in Angband and it's variants. The second, called 'Sound & Music' and as you'll probably figure out for yourself, is all about nice noises coming from your roguelikes. Many thanks to James for his contributions. |

- Players Redundant. Dennis van Es has decided he doesn't need you anymore, Angband can play itself - in the form of Borgband. Using the RML borg with APW borg bits sprinkled on for good luck, the game plays like Angband 2.8.3 with the little borg to do your playing for you. A nice feature is that when run with the correct switch, the game will create it's own char (complete with name thanks to CthAngband), play it until death and then start another! You've been replaced! Source and Win executable can be found on the homepage. - RML Article. Ross Morgan-Linial (of borg fame *grin*) has also just sent in a new article for the Development section. Called 'Finding Explorable Regions', it's a slab of code to help you find if regions of a dungeon are reachable and connected. This now brings the articles total to 32 which is great if you ask me but it could be more! If you think you could help out others wishing to create roguelikes by writing an article on a related topic, please get in touch. |

- Win32 Star Rogue. There is a Win32 version the Star Rogue alpha available. Written in Delphi, it has all the features of the Dos version apart from the shooting. Most of the bugs have been nailed and Save/Load also works. - New OAngband. Just a week since the last release, Tim Baker has another new version of OAngband (v0.4.1). We have a list of features too and it's kinda large so there's been a little mutilatio...uh, editing involved. Here you go...

- Silmar Update. 'Lord Draknor' has released a new version of his multiplayer roguelike game, Silmar. v0.10 alpha features faster networked play, aswell as a much-improved installation and startup procedure. They're also looking for more testers to help in getting to a final release. Are you such a person? |

- End Of Saga. Matthias E. Giwer has called an end to his project Saga, a roguelike written in Perl. In the hope that someone will carry on the project or take something from it, he's made the source available for download at his homepage. - Amiga ZAngband. Almost forgot but Bablos has a port of the ZAngband development release (v2.3.5) for the Amiga. You'll find the file here... - OAngband Features. Tim Baker was kind enough to post along the list of changes in OAngband (v0.4.0e) so here they are...

- Mac Slash'EM. Paul Hurtley has created a Mac port of SLASH'EM (v0.0.6E0) that works on both Power PC and 68K. You can download the files you need from Paul's site here. - New OAngband. Tim Baker has released a new version of OAngband (v0.4.0e). Unfortunately, I haven't (at this time) got my mitts on the feautes list so I can't really tell you much about it apart from where to get the files. So, without further ado, here they are...
- Amiga DrAngband. To complement the above port, Bablos has an Amiga version of the recent DrAngband (v3.9.4) release. You can get it here... - New Claw. There is another release of Claw and Sword (v0.0.2) from Francisco Muoz. This one expands and fills in some of the features missing from the last version. The player appears above stairs now so the teleport debug command isn't required and there is also an outdoor map feature. Source can be found on the homepage. |

- New DrAngband. Tom Morton has a new version (2.9.4) of his variant DrAngband available. Apparently the usual Angband FTP is still a bit chocka so he's made the files available from his website. Changes for this version include...

- RLNews Tag. A little while ago, someone asked if there was a RLNews badge (like the 'classic' Netscape Now! things) available for people to use as link markers. There wasn't but with a little fiddling, there now is. If you're so inclined and would like to use it, you can find it here. I'll stick it on the Links page too. |

- Underdark Release. Stuart George has released a new version (0.1.10) of his roguelike, Underdark. Apparently the memory leaks should be no more, there are some new dungeon generation algorithms and some generic wandering monster AI. Unfortunately, you can't fight them, you just watch them wander. Files are available from...
- More Claw. There is a new release of Claw and Sword (v0.0.1) from Francisco Muoz available. In this version, you can fully explore 15 randomly populated levels and mess with the debug commands. Nb. Remember to compile with the debug commands switched on as while starting levels, you often appear within walls and need to 'teleport' out of them. - ZAngband Dev Release. All you naughty variant authors have been too productive and filled the 'export.andrews.cmu.edu' FTP site so poor old Robert Rühlmann can't upload his new dev release (v2.3.5) of ZAngband. Not to fear though, the files are still available at the homepage. Here are the changes... for a change...
